Urad dal sabut 250 gm
Ginger finely grated 2 tsp
Garlic cloves finely cut 4
Red chilli whole 4-5
Mustard Oil 1 tbsp
Salt as per taste

For Tempering 
Ghee/Oil 2 tbsp
Green chillies chopped 2-3
Onion chopped 1
Garam Masala 1/2 tsp
Cream 4 tbsp
Curd 5-6 tbsp


  • Wash the dal properly and soak it overnight in water.
  • Add salt, garlic, ginger, red chilli and Oil.
  • Pressure cook for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and mix thoroughly to a creamy consistency.
  • Heat the ghee/ oil, fry Onion, green chillies till golden brown and add to the coked dal.
  • Add garam masala, curd and mix well.
  • Cook on a low flame for 2- minutes.
  • Pour cream on top of the cooked dal just before serving. Serve piping hot.
