200 gm Bitter gourd (sliced)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
3 tsp Oil
1 dry coconut ( cut into pieces)
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder 
4 cloves
Salt to taste


  • Rub bitter gourd slices with 1 tsp salt and turmeric powder. Set aside for five minutes. Squeeze the bitter gourd to extract the bitter juices.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the bitter gourd. fry well, stirring occasionally, until crispy.
  • Blend the dry coconut, chilli powder, cumin powder and cloves to a fine powder and add to the bitter gourd.
  • Stir and cook for two minutes. Serve hot with chapatis or as a side dish with rice.
