KOZHUKATTA



Ingredients

Rice flour - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Jaggery (crushed) - 1/2 cup
Dried ginger powder ( Sonth) - 1/4 tsp(Optional)
 
Method


  • Make dough by adding warm water to rice flour mixed with enough salt for your taste. Add cumin seeds also. Keep it aside,
  • Put a steamer on stove. (Idali steamer or pressure cooker)
  • Take half  cup of freshly grated coconut. Add crushed jaggery. Mix this well using your fingers. Add dried ginger powder.( Its optional)


  • Make small balls. Make a big hole in the middle of this ball and put the coconut and jaggery mix inside that hole and close it . (You can flatten it in your hand and put the mix and close it)
  • Apply some oil on top of the plate you are using to steam this rice balls. Put one by one and steam it abut 15-20 min in medium heat ( just like Idali). Tasty Kozhukkatta is ready to be served.
